Here’s what happened in Round 20 of the Betfred Championship…
Bradford Bulls made it a third straight league win with a dominant victory over Halifax Panthers at Bartercard Odsal on Friday night– sealing the double over Kyle Eastmond’s side.
The Bulls ran in five tries against their opponents with Eribe Doro, Waqa Blake, Jayden Okunbor, Kieran Gill and Guy Armitage all on the scoresheet as Brain Noble’s men moved up to second in the table.
Widnes Vikings took one step closer to avoiding the bottom four as they beat Sheffield Eagles on Sunday.
It was a closely fought contest until Ben Condon won it for the Vikings two minutes from time, meaning the gap remains four points between themselves and London.
But the Broncos continue to be hot on Widnes’ heels as they beat Barrow in an equally as tight encounter in Round 20.
Alex Walker scored at the death to seal an important two points.
It was another crucial victory for the league leaders this weekend, as York defeated Oldham to extend their unbeaten run to 12 Championship matches in a row.
The spoils were hard fought for, however, and after Oldham went in front for the first time in the second half, two late York tries from Jesse Dee and Oli Field swung the game back in the Knights' favour for a memorable win.
Over at the Eco-Power Stadium, the Dons held off a second-half Hunslet resistance to take a six-try win and remain in sixth spot.
Doncaster were in total control in the first half and led thanks to tries from Luke Briscoe, Sam Smeaton and Alex Sutcliffe, as well as a Jacob Jones brace.
A spirited Hunslet side reduced the deficit to four points late on, but Ben Johnston’s late effort would ensure Richard Horne’s side an important home win.
Meanwhile, Featherstone travelled to Batley in Round 20 and recorded back-to-back victories to strengthen their Play-Off chances.
